This year we changed the New Year's tree up a little. We all wrote down things that we appreciated about each other, or things that we noticed they had accomplished over the year. We also wrote one for ourselves.
Zoe (from Zoe): Greate at playing soccer!
Zoe (from Zoe): almost finished Fablehaven!
Zoe (from Pierce): read Fablehaven series almost completely
Zoe (from Pierce): became official sand dollar finder of the family as well as 4-leaf-clover finder
Zoe (from Mattie): beginning to love to read
Zoe (from Mattie): getting on Gael's good side
Zoe (from Pam): Doing your best at school even when your teacher didn't do things the way you like
Zoe (from Pam): practicing juggling and learning that it's fun to try hard, and that you can improve!
Zoe (from Matt): changed her style to become successful with a new - and tricky - teacher. She figured out what was wanted and struggled until she excelled at it.
Zoe (from Matt): switched to an advanced soccer team and has learned how to put forth special effort to increase her abilities
Zoe (from Matt): switched instruments and already learned a bunch on the piano
Pierce (from Zoe): Greate at playing soccer!
Pierce (from Zoe): Very smart!
Pierce (from Pierce): was NOT in a play at school
Pierce (from Pierce): Increased his ninja sk1lz
Pierce (from Mattie): getting better at soccer
Pierce (from Mattie): improving in art
Pierce (from Pam): being a responsible deacon class president and learning from your leaders
Pierce (from Pam): being a full tithe payer this year even when it wasn't easy
Pierce (from Matt): saved and saved and repented and saved up for a super cool bow
Pierce (from Matt): has become increasingly independent at school, and has grown to become a leader in a most intensive class.
Pierce (from Matt): Grew at least one foot physically (and at least two spiritually) and now leads other Priesthood holding young men in passing the sacrament and serving others
Mattie (from Zoe): certified as a life guard
Mattie (from Zoe): got a driving permit!
Mattie (from Pierce): had really good violin recitals
Mattie (from Pierce): finished (and started) Driver's Education, Feat. AL Not-Unser
Mattie (from Pam): finishing up your first year of high school with good grades and good friends
Mattie (from Pam): your dedicated seminary attendance all year, even when you were up late
Mattie (from Matt): obediently completed lifeguard training - without seeing the benefit herself
Mattie (from Matt): competed - and completed - City swim against all odds with a new scoliosis-free spine
Mattie (from Matt): Achieved High School honors and maintained excellent grades (and attitude) even with especially difficult situations.
Mom (from Zoe): Greate at playing the peano!
Mom (from Zoe): Greate at taking pictures!
Mom (from Pierce): started studying chemistry again
Mom (from Pierce): brought all the kids everywhere for 364 days
Mom (from Mattie): photographing a wedding
Mom (from Mattie): working 2 callings without dying
Pam (from Pam): Read 149 mostly good books
Pam (from Pam): beat Pierce at Word Waddle
Dad (from Zoe): Greate at teaching primary!
Dad (from Zoe): welded really cool things!
Dad (from Pierce): Got very good at making cool art and sculptures
Dad (from Pierce): mastered the plasma cutter
Dad (from Mattie): teaching Mattie to drive without Mom finding out
Dad (from Mattie): creating a bunch of cool stuff in the garage
Dad (from Pam): swimming very far distances with an amazing goal
Dad (from Pam): providing for our family, so that we can live so comfortably and do so many fun things, even though it's not necessarily easy or fun
