Matt's sculpture

Matt has been welding all sorts of interesting things - including this sculpture. The backstory is that he created this cool sculpture by welding steel rings over this mannequin half, but the mannequin half was sometimes tossed haphazardly across the welding table, and Mattie found it very offensive. I think it was a little too detailed for her taste. But in the end she was okay with the sculpture.




Another amusing bit of backstory is that Matt really wanted to weld on an actual person. Now, to a welding novice such as myself, that sounds like a real bad idea. But Matt thought he might be able to tack some welds together with protective clothing over the model and it might not get too hot. Thankfully he tried it on himself first, resulting in a pretty good burn to his arm despite the leather covering.
